One day as Jesus was on His way to the house of a man named Jairus (whose daughter was dying), a very sick woman was determined to be healed.   The sick woman snuck up and touched Jesus amongst the crowds.  Her intentions were to sneak in to touch the hem of his garment because she believed that’s all it would take to heal her of twelve years of suffering and torment.  She was right.  But her plan was probably to quietly disappear back into the crowd.

However, Jesus, was not having it, He spoke out into the crowd, “who touched me?”  Peter said that many were touching Jesus, but the Lord knew something was different about this touch.  Her touch pulled something out of him.  How can God get the glory when no one tells of His glorious love and healing power for us?

Luke 8:46 “Someone did touch Me, for I was aware that power had gone out of Me.”

I love this translation where they used “power” as a translation for “virtue.”  (I was aware that virtue had gone out of Me.)  One of the dictionary meanings for virtue is “a capacity to act: potency.”  Jesus was so potent with power that it was there for the taking and his input was not required.  His “virtue” could be accessed by someone with faith.  Her faith acted like a siphon and it still does today.

Healing comes in many ways, but there may be times when healing is totally in our hands.  We must walk in the same faith that the woman had when she reached out and took her healing.

Do you think Jesus is still just as filled with power virtue as He was then? Then there are also instances when Jesus sneaks right onto the scene when we don’t expect it and He touches us when we aren’t looking.  I have experienced this several times in the last few years.  Remember faith is always the factor to be healed.  I never doubted that He heals.  I always speak of His goodness and always give Him the glory.

The Lord our God has many ways by which He makes our bitter waters of trouble sweet.  Sometimes he simply changes our circumstances.  How often have you been in such great sorrow and trouble that you thought you could not endure another day of it?  But, just when it looked as though you would be overcome, the Lord removed the trouble.  Many times I have been in a position, not knowing what to do or which direction to go. I have come to the point where some decision must be made, but I didn’t know what to do. Then the Lord stepped in and completely turned the situation around. He opened the way before me, He took me by the hand and said, “This is the way, walk in it.” At other times the Lord turns our sorrow to joy and makes our bitter waters sweet interjecting something unexpected, which changes everything.

Now, if you’re in a bad situation right now, don’t give up too soon.  Our timing is not Gods timing. Are you waiting on your miracle?  Sometimes we must exercise our faith and stretch our spiritual muscles while we are waiting on God to sneak in and touch us.  Don’t be the one who aborts your healing, don’t settle with disease, pain and death.  Please trust in God’s word, read what He says in Exodus.

Exodus 15:26 He said, “If you will listen carefully to the voice of the LORD your God and do what is right in his sight, obeying his commands and keeping all his decrees, then I will not make you suffer any of the diseases I sent on the Egyptians; for I am the LORD who heals you.”
