The Ministry that costs nothing accomplishes exactly that, nothing.

Psalm 119:44-45 NLT I will keep on obeying your instructions forever and ever. I will walk in freedom, for I have devoted myself to your commandments.

One of the greatest sins a believer can commit is self-centeredness. Devotion is not only for personal edification; it is also preparation for edifying others. Devotion is serving Christ, but it is incomplete until others are served.

Titus 2:11-12 NLT For the grace of God has been revealed, bringing salvation to all people.

And we are instructed to turn from Godless living and sinful pleasures. We should live in this evil world with wisdom, righteousness, and devotion to God.

The altar of sacrifice was a public place where a private act was committed in order that both personal and public service to God were represented.  Service to God, even in the most holy of settings, was never seen as complete if it was cut off from its corporate dimension. The very principle of sacrifice was to fulfill the call.

1 Corinthians 16:15-16 NLT You know that Stephanas and his household were the first of the harvest of believers in Greece, and they are spending their lives in service to God’s people. I urge you, dear brothers and sisters, to submit to them and others like them who serve with such devotion.

Christ’s example is the ultimate representation of One who served others while serving God. The cross was a fulfillment of obedience to the heavenly Father and reaching out for others.  Similarly, the believer is to be aware of the need to sacrifice for the Lord and at the same time use that sacrifice as a platform to be of service to others.

John 13:12-17 When he had washed their feet and put on his outer garments and resumed his place, he said to them, “Do you understand what I have done to you? You call me Teacher and Lord, and you are right, for so I am. If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I have given you an example, that you also should do just as I have done to you. Truly, truly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him.

Are you the hands and feet of Christ, and a voice crying out in the wilderness, calling out to the lost? “Prepare Ye the way of The Lord!”

All my love Sharon
