Decisions? Decisions? The Right Choice

Christian Bible Teaching by Sharon Hood

Wow, have you ever been in a battle over making the right decision.  Well today was just, one of those days for me.  I was stretched pulled one way, then stretched another, a real tug of war with making the right choice. I had no peace and really needed to hear from God.  With Super Tuesday elections today, I couldn’t rely upon my own way of thinking. This one was important.  On days like these I believe that we must rely on what the Bible tells us not to trust our feelings. There are times when we must run to God, to make the right choice.

Proverbs 3:5 NIV Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
Have you ever had a decision where you were so torn, not really knowing what was the right choice. I really thought about flipping a coin, drawing a name from a hat, and so forth.

How do you make important decisions?  Some decisions we make have an everlasting affect on us. Have you ever thought about the process you use?  Some of us agonize over decisions;  we even lose precious sleep.  Boy, I sure did on this one!

I have known some people that never seem to think before they act.  They are the “spur of the moment” kind of person who spontaneously decide on everything.  I make lists of pros and cons and see which list is longer and try to use wisdom.  But there are days like today when I have no real peace.

Many of us have tempered the way we make decisions over time because past decisions that have left us feeling like a fool, teaching us a lesson in wisdom and in life. We see how unwise some things turned out. We all have made emotional decisions.  My friends, let’s try to learn to make wise choices. The wisest decision we can make is to always include God in the process.

I like what it says in Proverbs.

Proverbs 3:6; “Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, every where you go; he’s the one who will keep you on track.”

Submit your decisions to God and ask for His wisdom in making right choices.  Here is a suggestion, always use a large portion of prayer, then add patience and wisdom when making a major decision. Sleep on it at least twenty four hours before following through, and continue with prayer.

This is something that I have recently implemented into my own way of making decisions.  Once you ask for God’s help, that’s your chance to hear His final word. You will know when it’s not right, you will get an unsettled feeling and you will not have peace about the decision. God will guide and direct us when we stand back, seek His will and obey when He speaks.

I will leave you with these scriptures to meditate on.

Psalm 37:5 Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will do this:
Proverbs 22:19 So that your trust may be in the LORD, I teach you today, even you.
Proverbs 23:4 Do not wear yourself out to get rich; have the wisdom to show restraint.
Proverbs 28:26 He who trusts in himself is a fool, but he who walks in wisdom is kept safe.

All my love Sharon
