Getting Ready For Heaven

3 February 2012

PRAISE THE LORD!  When our lives are full of God’s light and not the darkness of the world, God supplies an abundance of genuine JOY and PEACE in any circumstance!

Unbelievers can’t understand it, but true living begins the day you accept the gift of   ETERNAL LIFE through faith in Jesus Christ’s death on the cross, the shedding of His blood,  and His resurrection from the grave!  All it takes to be “saved” is to truly desire to do things God’s way and to accept what Jesus did for you on the cross.  In other words, SURRENDER your will to God’s will.  Sometimes surrendering is a process and sometimes it’s instant.  The time it takes depends on the person.  Easy or difficult?  Instantly or years?

To Ask Jesus Into Your Heart,  Pray.  There isn’t a formula to follow.  Here’s  a prayer as an example, but you will want to pray what comes from your heart:

“Jesus, I know I am a sinner.  I believe that you died on the cross for me and arose from the grave three days later.  Please come into my life and be my best friend and my Saviour.  I’m sorry for living my way.  I turn from my sinful past and I want to live the way you want me to live.  Help me make the changes I need to make.  I know that I don’t have to go to hell, but I can now go to Heaven by choosing you and your ways.  Thank you, Jesus, for saving me.   Amen.”

Once you accept Jesus as Saviour and turn from your own ways, the old person no longer lives, but Christ lives within you (Galatians 2:20).   You are growing spiritually so that your character, words, thinking, actions, etc. increasingly looks more like that of Jesus’ than of the people in the world.

The Holy Spirit, God’s gift as Comforter (See Acts 2), lets you know when you have messed up.  We should quickly ask God to forgive us and  determine not to repeat the mistake.  God’s greatest commandment is to love Him.  This means avoiding things that are not of Him—–SIN—— idolatry, sorcery, witchcraft, sex outside of marriage, adultery, pride, lying, stealing, cheating, gossiping, unforgiveness, judging others, lust, pornography, drunkenness , drugs, etc., but now you are not alone!  You have the Holy Spirit to help you!

Worship!  Experience the presence of God!  Tell God in your own words how good He is.  Thank Him for your blessings.  Think on a Scripture and allow yourself to consume it.  Raise your hands and worship like all of creation and like the children of a great Father running to jump into His arms!

Rest in pure love as you worship God in spirit and in truth!  Experience joy unspeakable, the tangible fragrance of His presence, the wind of His moving, and much more that comes with being a son or daughter of the Most High God who loves to give good gifts!

Tell Others Our Salvation Story Reading and memorizing scriptures helps us stay strong spiritually, likeHebrews 11, Eph 6:10-20, Psalm 62:5-8
